Risk 1 and Risk 2: what you need to know
Both risk courses are mandatory for your licence. Here are the differences, what happens on the courses and how to book them.

Risk 1 and Risk 2 are two separate mandatory parts of the licence training. You cannot do them at the same time, and they take place in different places. Here is what applies.
Why are there risk courses?
They give new drivers an understanding of risks that driving lessons alone cannot train away: attitudes, tiredness, alcohol and drugs, peer pressure, speed and how the car behaves when it loses grip.
Risk 1: theory and reflection
Risk 1 takes place at the driving school and takes 180 minutes plus a break. The course is based on conversation and mixes exercises, film and discussion. You do not need to have come far in your training to take part, but you must have started it.
After the course, it is registered with the Swedish Transport Agency. You need to bring valid ID. Our course costs SEK 749 and you book it in the Risk 1.
Risk 2: skid track
Risk 2 takes place on a skid track and takes 240 minutes. In the Gothenburg area it is usually at Stora Holm. You feel how the car reacts when you brake hard, swerve and drive on a slippery road, and practise acting before the situation becomes critical.
Dress for the weather, because you are outdoors for much of the day. The course costs SEK 2,399 with us, and you book it when you and your instructor think you are ready. Read more about Risk 2.
Order and validity
- You must do both courses before you can take the driving test.
- You can do Risk 1 early in your training. Book Risk 2 when you have come some way.
- Both are registered digitally with the Swedish Transport Agency.
- Completed courses are normally valid for five years. Check the current rules with the Swedish Transport Agency.
